Win Row Farm's lesson program encourages students to concentrate

on the specific discipline of Hunt Seat Equitation, progressing to jumping.

They are taught to groom and tack up their own mounts for their lessons.

Students all start with a one- on-one private, regardless of previous experience.

Proper grooming, tacking, equipment used, and lesson protocol is covered along

with getting acquainted with the terminology used. All riders at this time are

assessed so that they can be placed in an appropriate semi private group.

It's important for students to demonstrate the ability to ride (walk) around the ring by themselves comfortably before being placed in a group. This is to ensure that

they are confident in controlling their horse/pony.

Students and interested family members, also have an opportunity to attend  various horsemanship clinics, covering horse related topics including stable management, feeding, first aid and showing.

As students begin to master the flat skills of walk, trot and canter and demonstrating not only balance and position, but continue to work on becoming effective riders. We strive to teach them to achieve and to get that "invisible ride'"

SHARE LEASE PROGRAM:

WRF horses are available for partial or occasionally full lease, to students who are advanced enough to groom, tack and handle a horse/pony mounted and unmounted without help. Leasing allows students to progress in their riding skills faster than the once a week lesson allows. Leasing also gives the rider a chance to realize the commitment in owning a horse before purchasing. Students who lease also have first choice of that horse for shows. Leased horses can be shown at the lower levels from Walk-Trot to Novice Jumping. When students are ready for their own horse, we make it a priority to find the best horse for the goals and ability level of that rider.

During the summer months, WRF also offers summer camp for all levels.

Win Row Farm also holds their annual Fall Schooling Show for all students interested.

LESSON PROTOCOL:

First time private  lessons  are one hour long.  Student get acquainted with proper grooming, tacking and lesson protocol before during and after riding.

Semi-private lessons are 45 minutes -1 hour long. Students are to arrive 30 minutes prior to their lesson to groom and tack up so they are ready to ride at scheduled time.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Proper riding attire is not required to begin lessons. Straight legged pants, shoes or boots with flat sole and small heal are recommended. We can provide a helmet for the first month of  lessons, after which students should provide their own helmets and  paddock boots. Some students will also need to get half or full chaps to keep from getting rubbed on their legs. No over-sized clothing. Clothing should be fitted and neatly worn shirts, tucked in to prevent getting caught on equipment and so not to interfere with instructors view of riders position. ALL students with long hair MUST wear hair pulled back and preferably up in helmet using hair net. We are happy to show them how! :)
